It’s hard being green

Ribbit!

I know it’s only March,
but I am thinking SPRING!
and
that means green!

Let’s have some green fun today!

Kaleidoscopes by inkspired & KaleidaCam

Kermit has been a favorite since I saw him
the first time on TV in
The Frog Prince fairytale with Miss Piggy.

Kermit, The Muppets

I found some fun ‘fake’ movie posters
featuring Kermit....

But wait!
There’s more!
(Old commercial humor)

Do you recognize all the movies they are spoofing?
FYI
If you haven’t seen

“Driving Miss Daisy”

you have really missed out on a fabulous movie.

Let’s find some green in nature-

Does anyone know what this is?
I found the photo on Pinterest
with no identifying captions.

No matter,
I sure would not want that to buzz around my head!

Next we have a lovely Shamrock collage
made with recycled, used postage stamps.
See past blogs to find more postage stamp art!

Well, are we feeling green yet?
Having fun with a new app, found on AppAdvice,
called WordPack.

Have a safe and Green Day!

Truth from experience -
Usually discovered before 10am or coffee:

You will not find coffee mugs in the coffee/tea cupboard.
Coffee and tea are kept there.
Spoons are not found there either...

Today is a red day.
Don't ask me why.
It just is!

I just spent a very pleasant time listening to some of my favorites on YouTube.
I like quite a wide variety of music genres.
Even if you think you are not a country western music lover,
I think you will enjoy this song by Dolly Parton:

 'He's Alive'

found at www.musiclog.in
Here's another one I like:
'Jesus and Gravity'

unknown source - it looks like a vintage pattern envelope illustration to me

Here is a recipe from
Colorado Cache Cookbook 10th Anniversary Edition
c.1978, Junior League of Denver, Inc.
'Caliente Salad'
serves 8
1 15'2 oz can kidney beans, drained (they're red!)
1 cucumber, diced
1 small onion, diced
1 green pepper, diced (but you could use red pepper!)
3 large tomatoes, diced (they're red!)
4 slices bacon, crisply fried and crumbled
1 cup mayonnaise
1 tsp. chili powder (it's red!)
dash of red cayenne pepper
salt and pepper to taste
2 cups lettuce, torn into small pieces
>Combine all ingredients except bacon and lettuce.
Refrigerate.
Add bacon and lettuce just before serving.
By the way, 'caliente' means 'hot'.

having red shoes,
it hasn't changed."

Art Galleries and Barbie and Collage Art Dolls

Black Lace Barbie with Butterfly
original Collage Art Doll by inkspired
created from all recycled junk mail

Okay, I have some

 REALLY BIG NEWS -

One of my Collage Art Dolls was seen on my blog

by a Gallery Director in New York. She contacted me.
She wanted to include my art collage in her upcoming exhibit:

Gendered Object: Barbie As Art
The Ann Street Gallery
104 Ann Street
(845)784-1146
Curated by Virginia Walsh, director of the Ann Street Gallery

May 19 – June 30, 2012

Wow.
I am still pinching myself to see if I am awake or dreaming…

My exhibit is “Black Lace Barbie with Butterfly” (as seen above)
and it’s for sale!!! In an Art Gallery!!!
Big grin here.

I feel so honored.

Now I have a big request.  A really big favor to ask.
If any of you live within driving distance, and want to see a really nice gallery with some really crazy things people have done with Barbie, and have a camera….
Please, please, please
Could you take pictures and send them to me? An e-mail attachment would be just fine.
If there is some kind of ‘brochure’ or directory, I would love a hands-on copy of that too!!

The Ann Street Gallery Hours:
Wednesday and Thursday 9am – 5pm, (closed for lunch 1:30 - 2:30pm)
Friday and Saturday 11am – 5pm
There’s also an Artist Reception Sat. May 19 from 6 – 9pm, free and public

Feel free to forward this to other groups you may be involved with. Forward it to friends – and especially to anyone that might live in the area! I am so sad that I won’t be able to see this first in my life myself, so I am relying on the generosity of others to help me experience it via photographs.  Any comments, photos, etc. can be sent to

Let’s play nice, and not give that e-mail to anyone that might abuse it.
My sincere thanks,
Karen M. Kloberdans

Fairy Tale Paper Dolls

Hi everyone!

Today needs to be a no fancy stuff, just pretty plain kinda' blog.
I haven't shared much lately, so I wanted to touch base at least briefly.
busy, busy, busy.  but....a good kind of busy I think.

I have been working on my Collage Paper Paintings, and Fairy Tale themes or Nursery Rhyme themes.
I love it!
More on that later.  Here is one of my recent Paper Paintings:

"Fairies chatting in the garden"

I offer fine art prints of all my original Collage Paper Paintings for $10,
plus $4.00 shipping and handling.
That's US as I have never tried international.
I have received items from international, so I know it can be done!!
:0)

Here is my latest:

Here is a Paper Doll double page spread with charming fairy tale clothes:

I love her clothes!
It does look as though this one is copyrighted,
so just for your personal pleasure please.

Here is a vintage one page Peter Pan:

Follow the directions on the back, and make a whole family of movable
paper dolls!
Glue on little photos of family faces!

Last are some super fairy tale dolls by babalisme.
I'm pretty sure you can find her things at:

Hope you have had a little fairy tale fun today!  It's lovely weather (maybe, depending on where you live).  Take your child out for a little, or long walk.
Yes, even those teenages who think a walk around the block is a marathon.
Walks are great times to talk.

:0)

If you weather is wet and rainy, well get your printer working and print out some paper dolls to cut and play with.  Get out your pens and crayons and make up a whole new wardrobe for your dolls! Or get out a stack of old magazines, and cut out a whold new wardrobe. Don't forget to add the tabs!

Have a great day,
