International vintage paper dolls

Welcome

All kaleidoscopes by inkspired and KaleidoCam

I would love to share with you today a few vintage paper dolls.

They all are one page dolls,

which means doll and costume(s) are on one page

instead of several.

The paper dolls featured represent countries where I have readers!

Let’s start with Japan -

The above doll is part of a series that were printed in

the Boston Sunday Globe, around 1909.

The artist is J.V. Sloan.

Thanks for your interest in my blogs, Japanese readers!

MuralsWallpaper, Pinterest

Next I have another Dolly Dingle international paper doll.

You can read more about Dolly in my past blog

“It’s a small world after all”

My readers from Italy have supported me

from my first blogs several years ago.

 Next up -

Switzerland!

Here are 2 paperdolls representing traditional
costumes from Germany -

A big hello to my Russian supporters:

I hope you have enjoyed this little trip
around the world with vintage paper dolls.

If you choose to print them for playtime,
glue them onto a piece of thin cardboard
(Think cereal boxes)
and cut out to increase their lives!

Another Dutch paper doll to add to the previous ones.

I love paper dolls,
and international costumes,
and vintage styles.
I’m so happy to share these with you!

‘Til next time,

Russian paper dolls

Welcome!
A flower kaleidoscope by inkspired and the KaleidoCam app

I haven’t shared paper dolls in awhile.
Time for a paper trip to Russia!

Artist Tatiana Beeva

Dolly Dingle first appeared in
‘The Pictorial Review’ magazine in 1913.
For many many years Dolly Dingle had paper doll adventures with themes such as
Dolly visits the Opera,
Dolly adopts a War Orphan,
Dolly’s Country Cousin visits,
and
Dolly’s World Flight.

Grace G. Drayton is the artist.
Ms. Drayton is also the artist that created
The Campbell Soup kids’.

Today she visits Russia!

This paper doll girl is part of a series of one page
paper dolls featuring a different country each.
Sorry, I could not find a better photo of her.

with items from their country

This is from a Dolls of the Nations series of
wrap-around paper dolls
printed in the Boston Sunday Globe.

I just love the vintage features
and coloring in them!

Lettie Lane was a wonderful paper doll series
that was first printed in 1908,
the October issue of The Ladies Home Journal.

This paper doll series by Sheila  Young
is the one you want to go to for accurate fashions and style from 1908-1915.
Dover Publications has many of them in
a reproduction paper doll book form.

A series of Russian headdresses through the years

Lastly I would like to share
Kellogg’s Krumbles “Russia”
one page paper doll from their
‘Around the World Cut Out Dolls’ series.

This series feature one page with 2 paper dolls,
traditional costumes and
a little ‘fact blurb’ about the country.
It was, best as I can find out,
a 1930-1950 cereal premium.

I hope you have enjoyed this variety of
International paper dolls
with a Russian theme.

There are more countries to be explored,
more paper dolls to discover
and play with!

All God’s Children

Welcome!
All kaleidoscopes by inkspired using the KaleidoCam app.

I have always loved folk costumes from around the world.
I love to learn about different countries,
with their unique cultures, languages,
crafts, food and so much more.

I thought today I would share some of my favorite
people photos from around the world.

India

Oh, and let me mention that children
are absolutely the best representatives of their
individual countries.
With a child, pretty much what you see is

Merry Christmas around the world

So many wonderful traditions from so many different people groups.
Let's see a few celebrations of Christmas and the holiday time,
around the world.

This photo was a bit tricky to credit a language to, as the West Bank is still in the hands of the Fatah (a Palestinian group) but Israel is the occupying force.
I think.
It gets confusing!
Since I have already had an Arabic Merry Christmas,
how about one in Hebrew?

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year in Hebrew.

the main language of Israel,
although Arabic is a secondary official language.

That's a lot of Merry Christmas's!
- and plenty of Happy New Year's thrown in!
I would like to finish with a sweet Christmas Celebration coloring page.
Perhaps this is the best way to show a tradition that we have nothing to do with.
All of creation (including animals and birds) say
Merry Christmas
to their Creator -
