‘Shoe Envy’ original collage art doll

Today I want to combine 2 of my favorite things…
Mermaids
and
Alphabets!

Original Collage Paper Painting hand cut from all recycled junk mail
By inkspired

Let’s get started with the letter A:

Found on Pinterest, listed as Etsy, but then ‘not available’

This lovely mermaid letter is what got me started on this blog!
Unfortunately I could find just a few, and no sources or artist ever confirmed.

Next - B
From a cross stitch book “Letters From Mermaids’
By Nora Corbett

Letter - C

Wanted Powers, posted on Pinterest

Letter - D
Etsy, TheFairyPaintbox

I had fun looking for the most variety
in mermaid styles!

Letter - E
Mitra’s Artist Diary 9/19/2016

Letter - F
Etsy, unknown
(Possibly from The Paper Nut, owner Jeanie Nelson)

Letter -
G
Quilled, uploaded to Pinterest by Just Quillit

Letter - H

Joyful Stitches

I could not find all of the alphabet letters with mermaids,
so I have added in nautical/beach themes. My inner mermaid
told me that was okay…

Letter - I
Etsy, by Fearless Divas

Letter - J

Letter - K

I just love that one!

I will close today with the
Letter - L

7 inch letter from EtsyCA, LITTLECHIOSHOP

That’s all for today!
I will be posting Mermaid Letters
M - Z
very soon.
I look forward to seeing you again!

‘Til next time,

Splish Splashin' in the Rain

SPLASH!!!

c.1912 Rain Drops Novelette
vintage song sheet graphics

Ain't no little drip drip here...
        it's all splash,
                      Splash,
                           SPLASH!!

Yep, we have enough rain now,
thank you God.

c.1907 'Brother Noah Gave out Checks for Rain'

I sure am glad that Noah went through the earth-covering drench and floods instead of me.
Still, some days here it seems like God is going for another flood.....

But God keeps His promises.
He has set the rainbow in the sky to remind us
that He will never flood the entire earth again....

c.1922 'After The Rain Song'

I think I'll go outside and look for one today!!

Just to make sure He hasn't changed His mind!!!

c.1919 'After the Shower'

Which is, of course, pure silliness.
God doesn't change His mind!

I know that other places around the globe have received scads more rain than we have here in the Rocky Mountains and foothills, in the form of
hurricanes and floods and tornadoes
and all sorts of weather-nasties that bring
 bucket-loads of water.

c.1908 'Any Old Port in a Storm'

However,
whenever things happen to yourself
or your friend down the street
it seems so much more immediate, more real
doesn't it?

My heart goes out to the many many people
that have lost their homes, and loved ones.

I thought today would be a good day
for
RAINCOATS AND UMBRELLAS!!!

Well, that concludes my rain-filled blog of today!

If you are stuck inside I hope my

Ah, those lovable computers!

"peace" in the Bengali language, spoken in Bangladesh

www.backtobangladesh.blogspot.com

I have been browsing some of my older posts,
and read how I opened so many of them with the word

'Peace'

or

'Welcome'

in different languages from around the world.

Today, I want to thank all the readers of my blog from

Bangladesh

Hello and welcome!
Today I get my computer back!!! Yippee!!!
It should be up and running by tomorrow. I am really looking forward to all my saved documents, including all my blog material that is on it. It may only be 'saved' from March, backwards. Oh well, I'll take that if I can have my computer back! My husband is very good at making back-up discs. The most recent one 'failed', not sure why. So March is the 'saved' one before that.

The computer people say that most people never back up their computers, or do it so infrequently that it is so outdated as almost unusable.
So...
a reminder to all you computer owners -

Make Back-Up Discs

just in case your computer 'crashes'.

Welcome!

vintage Royal Vale teacup and saucer

Today I'm having dreams of fancy pink tea parties with pastels and pretties.
Flowery quotes with shaped sugar cubes and little sandwiches.
Lovely flowers for my hair, and jewels for my fingers and ears...

Strawberry Rose Shortcake
by Cindy Littlefield

Ingredients (for each shortcake)
A shortcake dessert shell
Whipped cream
2 large strawberries
A mint leaf

Directions
1.     Fill the dessert shell with whipped cream.
2.     Wash and hull the strawberries. Slice one of them vertically into 5 or 6 pieces. Arrange the slices in a circle, tips pointing outward, atop of the whipped cream to create the outer petals of a rose.
3.     For the center of the rose, turn the other strawberry upside down and slice off the very tip. Next, make four cuts three quarters of the way down through the fruit to create a row of petals around the middle. Place the strawberry in the center of the fruit slices atop the whipped cream.
4.     Garnish the rose with the mint leaf. For the finishing touch, add a decorative border of whipped cream around the shortcake.
