Monster Snacks

 Hello everyone!

Found on Pinterest, no credit given

Does everyone have their costumes all done?
Trick or Treat candy in a bowl?
Spooky music set to ‘Play’?

Kaleidoscope by inkspired and KaleidoCam

We went to a party last night.
Costumes encouraged. Mix of ages.
Crazy decorations!
We were greeted by not one,
not two,
But THREE 9 foot tall spooky Things.
And that was just on one side of the house!

I told the hostess I was bringing a dessert
and to save me room on the table for
a cookie sheet size surprise.

This is the photo from online:

Pretty cute, right?
My husband found some candy ‘monster eyes’
So I decided to do monsters instead of all vampires.
Kind of like this:

Okay!
Left early Sat am to get 2 dozen cake glazed doughnuts.

The only doughnut store in my town had 9.
They were white glazed covered.
Hmmm.
Went over to King Soopers, a grocery store
with a large bakery.
They had 3 pumpkin glazed cake doughnuts.
Ok.
5 chocolate cake doughnuts.
3 maple with nuts doughnuts.
Ok.
20 is close to 24…

Here is what mine looked like,
when trying to fit the teeth in:

While it did look monstrous,
they didn’t really look quite as cute
as I was envisioning.
By the way, the doughnut on the left has 4 toothpicks trying to hold it together…

So,  I used toothpicks for the teeth;
which kind of balanced on the toothpicks.
Blobs of yellow sparkle frosting in a tube
I found on clearance
and candy monster eyes!
Here we go:

You have to admit,
they are pretty scary!
😂

Hope your Halloween is fun,
Safe,
and just a little bit scary,
But in a good way!
Like Monster Doughnuts…

‘Til next time,

P.S. there were no leftovers!

A few Christmas giggles

Welcome!

Kaleidoscope by inkspired

I don’t know about you,
But the whole
6 Days Before Christmas
is starting to weary me.
Or panic.
Or both.

Today I think we all need a little giggle.
Maybe even a few giggles!
Here are some things that have made me laugh recently -

All cartoons were found on various boards on Pinterest.
None really gave credit to anyone. ☹️

Here are a few more to tickle your funny bone -

Today is just a simple blog,
nothing fancy.
I do hope it has brought a smile to your face!

I am adhering strictly to the above motto.
Anyone else with me?

When setting your alarm clock for an important event
it is always a good idea to then
turn the alarm ‘ON’.

Play with those Talking Veggies!

Welcome!

Pumpkin Kaleidoscope by inkspired

As we enter the month of November
my thoughts turn to the upcoming American holiday of
Thanksgiving.

Cred: Cartoonist Jon Russo

While it may seem that retail has pushed Thanksgiving aside
it remains a unique American tradition.

1940 - 1950 illustration, artist unknown

Just don’t ask any Native Americans what they think about it,
as you might find out they have drastically changed their views on the subject after the first one.

Let’s talk of vegetables today,
an essential ingredient to any Thanksgiving meal.
Really.

I just love vintage illustrations!
Did you notice the turn of the century gardening tools?

Vintage seed catalog cover, 1899

Apparently in the past, we had different ideas
about advertising....

I mean nothing says
“Buy me! Plant me! Eat me!”
Like these:

MOM!
MY VEGETABLES ARE TALKING TO ME!

Yes dear, now eat your vegetables..”

Here’s a favorite,
Anthropomorphic vegetables, smoking!

Yep, nothing says healthy like smoking vegetables!

‘Better to eat vegetables and fear no creditors,
Than eat duck and hide from them.’

- The Talmud

‘It’s no use boiling your cabbage twice.’
-Irish proverb

On that thought, I will close for today.
Let me know what you think about talking vegetables

Let's scare up some skinny Halloween fun!

'cut to the bone II'
by Peter Callesen

O Skeletons!
sung to the tune of 'O Tannenbaum'

O skeletons! O skeletons!
Rattle down my hallway.
O skeletons! O skeletons!
Rattle in my attic.
Let them know, the day is here,
When your spirit will appear.
O skeletons! O skeletons!
Rattle through your graveyard!

Lock your doors...
...and turn out the lights,
Or ghosts and goblins...
...will spook you with fright!
Jump in bed...
....then pull the covers up tight,
Close your eyes...
...until the morning light.

Shivery Yells
sung to the tune of Silver Bells

We're on sidewalks,
We're on porches,
Dressed in costumes to scare.

Through the city
we're ringing your doorbells.
Trick or treating, candy eating,
Gooey stuff in our hair,
But the most fun is shrieking out loud,

"Shivery yells! {shivery yells}
Shivery yells!" {shivery yells}
That's the Halloween nitty gritty.

"Moan and Groan! {moan and groan}
Leave us alone! {leave us alone}
Halloween's just once a year!"
