A Pink Elephant Parade

Hi!

I have been preparing for my craft fair

TOMORROW!!!

No, I will not panic.
No, I will not panic.
No, I will not panic.

I have needed to be brief in my last few blogs
(Really? Is that possible for me to do?)

Today I would like to share with you one of my treasuries
that I have put together on etsy.
None of my shop's items are allowed to be listed.
It is a fun way to support etsy,
support other shopsellers on etsy,
and day dreaming shopping!

Apparently blogspot today does not want to underline
and put in blue all of my links.
Sorry, it's really not me!
So you will have to look just a bit harder to find the links.
It's worth it however!

Here is a direct link:

I have just taken little thumbnails of each item
(there are 16 items in each treasury).
To really see the actual item go see the pix on etsy.
Those pictures will be larger, and usually you have an option
for several different views of the listing.

I like pink elephants, I think they are fun!
I love real elephants, and hope to actually touch one, one day.

I just love that Elephant Tea Set! Really, really fun kitschy!

When was the last time you watched Disney's DUMBO?
Wonderful movie.
If you have kids, or have access to them, gather a group together
and have PINK ELEPHANT NIGHT!
Of course, part of the night will be spent watching DUMBO!

You should have pink elephant ice cream
with some pink tinted cake.
Get one of these vintage cake topppers for it:

You can pass out special party favors, perhaps like this one:

I hope you have enjoyed my little tour into DUMBO fantasy!
And remember, if you see a pink elephant
and it's not on the tv,
you might need to go to bed and get some rest!!

Celebrate All American Breakfast Month of September

Ashtee

(Farsi for 'peace')

Palo Dura Canyon, Texas

Have you smiled today?
Have you told someone something positive today?
No?
That's okay, you still have some 'today' left to do those things!
:0)

the month of September is
All American Breakfast Month!!!

I am trying to mention all month events/celebrations closer to the first of the month, but sometimes I don't get it done early.
You still have 3 days to celebrate!
Why not make a yummy breakfast for 3 days?
Really! You can do it!

Let's get our aprons on!

Let's get the kids occupied!

Notice the unique way the artist has made some of Allison's paper clothes.

Let's put on some nice music.
Here are a few music artists that perhaps you are not familiar with:

When you click on the link, it will take you to that specific video,
BUT
each artist has several other songs and videos.
Have fun!

CHEESY BACON VEGETABLE MUFFINS
from Better Homes & Gardens Old Fashioned Home Baking cookbook
1 3/4 Cup flour
2 Tbs sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 beaten egg
3/4 Cup milk
1/3 cooking oil
6 slices bacon, crisp cooked, drained & crumbled (1/3 Cup)
1/4 Cup finely chopped onion
1/4 Cup finely chopped green pepper
2 ounces Swiss OR American cheese, cut into 12 (3/4 inch) cubes

Grease 12 (2 1/2 inch) muffin cups, or line them with paper bake cups. Set aside.

In a medium mixing bowl stir together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
Make a well in the center of the dry mixture.

In another medium mixing bowl combine the egg, milk, and cooking oil.
Add the egg mixture all at once to the dry mixture.
Stir just until moistened (batter should be lumpy).
Fold in the crumbled bacon, onion and green pepper.

Spoon HALF of the batter into the prepared muffin cups.
Place one cheese cube in the center of each muffin, then add the remaining batter to the muffin cups, filling each cup 2/3 full.

Bake in a 400' oven about 20 minutes or till done.
Remove muffins from muffin cups and cool slightly on a wire rack.
Serve warm.
Makes about 12 muffins.

Some helpful hints:

1. When stirring muffin batter, really, there should be lumps!
If you stir out the lumps, your muffins will be tough.

2. ALWAYS have oven preheated. As soon as the batter is mixed,
pop muffins into the preheated oven right away.

3. To avoid soggy sides and soggy bottoms (oh no!), cool muffins in their baking pan only as long as directed in the recipe.
I generally pop them out as soon as I take them out of the oven.

Morning Glories, September Flower of the Month

Make your muffins the day before, and heat them in your microwave the next morning about 15 seconds for 1, depends on your microwave.

The softer side of fall

Hello!

I am kind of super busy today, getting ready for my
BIG CRAFT SALE at the Adams County Fairground,
FALL FESTIVAL CRAFT FAIR
Saturday, October 1,
9am - 4pm

I need to run to XPedX to pick up some packaging for my items,
cut another 100 at least business cards,
help my son pack up as he is moving tomorrow,
finish at least one beaded bracelet before Saturday
get my display set up at home, to make sure all fits,
and hopefully get a few more 'ribbons' finished.

These are made from an Art Nouveau Alphabet that I have tweaked, resized, tweaked some more and printed, then hand colored each letter.
Yeah, really.
These are NOT decals, rub ons, etc. I have hand colored each one with art pens!
I have the sets ready to go, I "just" need to put them on ribbons, add the ribbon embellishments, and back them with cardstock!!!
I do really like how they look however.
any-who-how,

I would like to share with you today an Etsy Treasury that I have put together.
"The softer side of fall"
I have to say, this might be the 'most favorite' treasury I have ever done.

The colors are just soothing to my creative spirit.
I am sorry I don't have time to list each item individually.

You can see the treasury here:

You should be able to just click on the link above,
and your computer will whisk you away to the treasury!

All of my photos today are from this treasury,
with the exception of the bottlecap ribbons that I have made.

Take a peek, and enjoy!
(with a nice cup of Maxwell House International cafe - hazelnut is a perfect !)

Gnome Days

Good Day!

Have you been caught in the GNOME-FEVER?
It can be a very dangerous-to-your-pocketbook fever,
and should be avoided at all costs.
There is no cure.
People suffering from Gnome-Fever are weakened,
and easily infected with
Severe Cute Factor.
There is no cure.
The affected person can sometimes lower their Gnome-Fever
with constant, repeated exposure of fairies and elves and trolls.
However, cases have been recorded that this exposure
may worsen the Gnome-Fever.

"There's no people like gnome people..."
song phrase

"Perhaps imagination is only
intelligence having fun."

- George Scialabba

WARNING:
You may aggravate your Gnome-Fever by inviting them to your garden:

'The wall is silence, the grass is sleep,
Tall trees of peace their vigil keep,
And the Fairy of Dreams with moth-wings furled
Plays soft on her flute to the drowsy world.'

- Ida Rentoul Outhwaite

When trying to help someone with Gnome-Fever,
check out their gardens.
This is a common area where Gnome-Fever is accelerated.

is out of focus!"

- Mark Twain

I send all my wishes for a quick recovery to all you that have
Gnome-Fever.
It is apparently spreading,
and there is no cure!
