A Fairy Saturday for you

Sith

'Peace' in Irish

from a slideshow titled "Amazing Paths"
author/photographer unknown

I am in a bit of a fantasy-forget-real-life mood today.
So,
it's time for fairies!

You know me, I pretty much can't have a blog without a paper doll or two!

Here's one for you to color:

"Augustina"
I think maybe in the tiny print is the name of the artist/creator.

These next fairy paperdolls are from a book called
The Enchanted Realm of Fairyland:

I'm not sharing the whole book with you today -
it has a LOT more very pretty and unusual fairies and costumes.

Just a reminder-
these paperdolls are NOT public domain
and are for your personal enjoyment only!

"To open your heart to the fairies,
you must nurture these feelings of wonder,
reverence and love for every detail of your garden,
for the airs which blow about it,
the musical rain which falls gently upon it,
the moon and the stars which silently look down on it, the great sun which is the source of its being
and for the clouds and changing skies
which provide it with a canopy.
When you truly feel the sweetness of this magic,
you will begin to discover the fairies,
for they will make themselves known to you."

--Claire Nahmad - GardenSpells

Here is another vintage look goody from turkeyfeathers.
She is so generous!

You could embroider these,
use fabric paint pens,
glitter,
dimensional paint bottles,
fabric paint in a tube
woodburning....
so many things you could adapt this pattern for!

I haven't shared from Liana's blog lately, so here are costumes and paperdolls
 from her wonderful imagination:

To finish up, I found this beautiful photo

She looks like a fairy to me!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Gnome Days

Good Day!

Have you been caught in the GNOME-FEVER?
It can be a very dangerous-to-your-pocketbook fever,
and should be avoided at all costs.
There is no cure.
People suffering from Gnome-Fever are weakened,
and easily infected with
Severe Cute Factor.
There is no cure.
The affected person can sometimes lower their Gnome-Fever
with constant, repeated exposure of fairies and elves and trolls.
However, cases have been recorded that this exposure
may worsen the Gnome-Fever.

"There's no people like gnome people..."
song phrase

"Perhaps imagination is only
intelligence having fun."

- George Scialabba

WARNING:
You may aggravate your Gnome-Fever by inviting them to your garden:

'The wall is silence, the grass is sleep,
Tall trees of peace their vigil keep,
And the Fairy of Dreams with moth-wings furled
Plays soft on her flute to the drowsy world.'

- Ida Rentoul Outhwaite

When trying to help someone with Gnome-Fever,
check out their gardens.
This is a common area where Gnome-Fever is accelerated.

"You can't depend on your eyes
when your imaginatiom
is out of focus!"

- Mark Twain

"Sometimes I've believed as many as
six impossible things
before breakfast."

- Lewis Carroll

I send all my wishes for a quick recovery to all you that have
Gnome-Fever.
It is apparently spreading,
and there is no cure!

Spring Fairies, budget paper craft and paperdolls

Aloha!

"Where there is love there is life" by Ruby Blossom

I have had a love affair with fairies for as long as I can remember.
Today as an adult, I collect fairies.
I have many many ornaments that go on my Christmas tree,
and get hung all over the house!
I have also been given lovely fairy statues -
some are candle holders, some are just pretty to look at!
My sister and her children have been super
about supplying my fairy habit with many wonderful fairies.
Thanks!

a gift from my husband

"If I had influence with the good fairy
who is supposed to preside over the christening of all children,
I should ask that her gift to each child in the world
be a sense of wonder so indestructible
that it would last throughout life."
- Rachel Carson

I am sorry, I have lost the name of the artist who created this.
Isn't she just as charming as can be?

These little Flower Fairies are Scandanavian art:

You can print them out, and use them as charming book marks!

Budget Craft:
Dimensional Paper Craft:
Print out several pages.

Start with one whole fairy.

step 2: Cut out part of a second fairy page. Perhaps the dress and the hat.

step 3: Cut out part of a third fairy page. Pick details like a sash or details from the hat.

step 4: Layer, with whole one on the bottom, then in order of steps.
Use pop dots or silicone glue to create height for each layer.

tip: Using a chop stick or small bottle, curve each top piece slightly for an extra nice look.

"The artist,if he has not to forgotten how to listen,
must retain the vision
which includes angels and dragons and unicorns,
and all the lovely creatures
which our world would put in a box marked
Children Only!"

- Madelaine L'Engle, author
This next paper doll with fairy clothes is part of
Liana's Paper Boutique set.
These are costumes that she drew, mostly in high school!

"And in the end
its not the years in your life that count.
It's the life in your years."

- Abraham Lincoln
