A Day on the computer

Welcome!
I have been up since 8am, and those of you that know me, know that is almost an impossible thing for me!
I really don't function well until around 10am. Even if I am, well, standing up. Beware! The Sleep Fuzzies are mostly in control!

painting by Kay Chorao

Those early college classes? Not good for me; yet every semester except one, all the way through college, I had one of those 7:30am classes.
And wouldn't you know it, it always seemed to be a 'core' class:
Sociology 101
Psychology 101
Bible Hermeneutics
Basic Science 101
I wonder what my poor teachers thought?!

Any-Who-How, I have had a day at the computer.
First up, editing and size adjustments for some of my new Collage Paintings.
Yep, I think I have come up with a name:

Collage Paintings by inkspired

Do you like it?  Here are a couple of my newer ones:

"Gypsy Camp"

"Mermaid Preening"

"M'lady's canter"

Right now I seem to be enjoying either Camelot era knights and ladies, or mermaids.  I am pleased with how my "Gypsy Camp" turned out, as that is my original design. The others I have borrowed ideas from different pattern sources, although no entire scene is all from a pattern. You know me, I have to do that creative thing and twiddle here, and smooch a bit there....

Here a couple of Collage Art Dolls that are entirely original to me, and made of recycled junk mail, catalogs, those irritating flyers on your door, etc.
I have just listed these today:

"Mermaid Pearls"
original Collage Art Doll by inkspired

"Vintage Snowflake with Pearl Chains"

So, that was time on the computer.
I also edited and re-listed several items.
Then of course I had to edit some already listed items.

Sigh.

Then I did some Treasury Upkeep.
You can make Treasuries on etsy.com by picking out 16 items from 16 different shops (and you can't include your own) with a theme.
(refer to a previous blog on how to put etsy treasuries together)

Well, the good thing about it is items sell!!! I always hope I had something to do with it. A few people have dropped me a note and said they purchased something that was in one of my treasuries. It makes it fun. However, that leaves a blank spot in the treasury.

Today I went back through several of my treasuries and added in new items to fill the empty (sold) slots.
I worked on:
"A Parliament of Owls"

and added a few, including:
Original 9x7 watercolour Eyes of Owl

and a needle felted handmade green owl:

"Hazelnut, please" treasury:

Hand Carved Hazelnut Pottery -1120
Hand Carved from Hazelnut Clay, Potter

Actual Hazelnut earrings! way cool....

I thought this picture was such a great advertising shot!

The listing is for 6 Vanilla/Hazelnut Scented Wax Tarts:

Next, "Forest Wings" treasury:

Gold Sugar Owl Screen Print

Owl Tree Branch Leaf Flower Mold Twig Clay Resin PMC Fondant Mould
Owl Tree Branch and flower&leaf Mold for Resin, Fondant +more

Oh, and many more, in a few more treasuries.

Then I worked on a few more Collage Art Dolls,
resizing and trying to get the actual color more realistic to what it is.
I also listed a new necklace I've finished:

hand beaded necklace with inkspired's original pattern

It is so much prettier than the picture shows. It is extremely difficult to photograph shiny and iridescent beads!

Then I worked on photos of my altered paper dolls, getting ready to list them for the first time...

"Clockface Tropics"

Do you like it?

I have so many darn ideas, it gets hard to settle on just a few things to do,
at once of course!!

Oh, and there was the nice coffee and chat with a good friend this am
(the reason I was up so early!)
and letting the dog out
and letting the dog in
and doing 3 loads of laundry
and plunging the toilet (oh hooray, love to do that....)
put dirty dishes away
sort laundry
smear peanut butter on the pills that Tanner needs to take every day
let Tanner out
let Tanner in
feed Tanner
let Tanner out
let Tanner in
hang up laundry
spend time in the basement organizing
sigh....
think it's time to go sit in my chair
and watch one of my 'new' movies -
"Honey I Shrunk the Kids"
or
"The Help" (loaned to me by a friend)
or finish
"Monty Python's Holy Grail"
( a present for Michael, but he fell asleep half way thru it last night!)
or...
oh well. I'll just close!

It is time to finish my
Day at the Computer.

Peace, G-d, a little Hebrew and International favorites

Hasiti

(There is a little 'tent' over both 'i's, but my program doesn't allow me to type those.
Sorry.)

'Hasiti' is Kurdish for
PEACE

So much unrest, cruelty and disunity around the world these last months.
Floods, droughts, tsunamis, hurricanes, tornadoes.
If I did not believe that God has a plan,
and that He is ultimately in control
I would be very depressed.
Fortunately, God left me His Word - His plan for my life, and for yours -
in the Holy Bible.
The Bible has been translated into hundreds of languages,
so for certain I am not getting into any discussions about
'which translation is correct'.
As long as the translation is originated- and keeps the spirit and meanings of-
the original documents, then I am happy.
And I think, so is God.
I had some questions about an earlier blog, where I used
G-d to represent the word 'God'.
First, the capitalization:
I believe there is only one true God, and that He is
'God over all other gods'.
See the difference in meaning there?
Just as Jesus is mentioned as 'Lord over all other lords'.
The capital letter (G or L) shows the 'top boss' so to speak!

'Earth in Hands'

Second, the missing vowel:
In the original, ancient language that the earliest Words of God were written,
there was no word for 'God' as we use it today.
In ancient biblical Hebrew, the closest English equivalent is
YHVH {called the tetragrammaton}.

Biblical Hebrew contains no vowels, so we don't know for sure how the name of
GOD was pronounced.

YHVH means "I AM"

Some scholars believe the pronunciation to have been
"Yahweh"
but this is only an educated guess.
Jews have traditionally believed that it is wrong to mention God's name and will not do so.
It is in extreme respect for God that He was so holy- that He did not have a name that we, as unholy peoples, could say aloud much less write down.
Some people call it "the Name that cannot be spoken"
or
"the Name above all other names".
Very Orthodox Jews, even when writing in other languages,
will leave out the vowels.
In English, "God" will be written
"G-d".

As a result, many Jewish people (G-d's chosen people) would be offended if I were to write the word "God", as this is disrespectful.

As a "goyim" (Gentile, non-Jewish person)
you will find that I vary between
God and G-d.

I want to thank Mrs. M. Walker for her kind response to my questions.

An ancient document written in Hebrew on papyrus. Dated around 100A.D.

And now for something competely different!

I do hope all of you have been at least introduced to
"Fawlty Towers", a British comedy series.
This is John Cleese in one of the programs.
He is so hilarious, and his superb crew backs him up perfectly!
Or sets him up perfectly I should say...

In case you missed this from an earlier blog,
Here is Phil Keaggy playing a wonderful song with guitar and vocals:

Such an incredible talent.

A day for preparing for Halloween Festivities

oooooooooooooooooo......

that's fake ghost speak for...
well...
anything you want it to be!

Today I want to celebrate the FUN in Halloween.
Charlie Brown and Snoopy type FUN.
Cute little cat FUN.
Dressing up as FUN characters.

Do I believe in ghosts and witches and flying brooms?
nope.
Do I believe in witchcraft?
yep, with a 'but'.
G-d is the only final authority on this world.
There may be evil beings, and evil people doing evil things
but G-d will always triumph.
Much to their dismay.

So can evil scare me?
nope.
It can startle me however!
Why am I not scared, or participate in 'evil' scary things?
Because I have the LORD Jesus Christ as my Saviour,
with His Holy Spirit dwelling in me.
He sits at the right hand of G-d,
and rules heaven and earth.
So in other words....I know the Boss and the Boss loves me!
Why would I want to portray anything else?
How can anything really scare me? (see the Boss line above!)

Does G-d allow evil things to happen?
yep.
Why?
I am not a theologian, who delight in that type of questioning.
I just know G-d's promises,
and that He is faithful to His Word.
I know that Light will always conquer dark.
Right will always conquer wrong.

Kind of a heavy way to start a blog about FUN!!
I just wanted you to know where I am coming from.
So can I have FUN if ghosts, witches and bony things are involved?
yep - as long as it is done in FUN!

(p.s. I am spelling the name of Jehovah "G-d" in respect to my Jewish friends)

and I'm pretty sure that dancing skeletons are fun!!

and so is a 'Ghoulie',
compliments of Dover books:
Scared?
nope! Because it is so silly looking!
and fake.

So let's have a jolly Halloween time!!!

imagination
there is no
Horror."

I have to play a little catch up because I told you I would have a paperdoll a day until the end of October.
oops.....forgot yesterday!
So today we will have at least 2!
:0)

thank you to OrigamiBears for sharing some of her paper dolls.

vintage illustrations

I LOVE this series of moustaches that Girlontherocks made.
Her shop is on etsy:

I'm not sure she is still making these,
but she might if we asked!

Her moustaches just crack me up!!
I have more I'll share later!

Next up is a cute little cat pin.
Make it up in shades of the rainbow from felt.
I have made many of these, and they work up very quickly.
You can add beads for kitty's features,
but NOT if there is a small child involved, of course.
I usually just embroider the features with thread.
Sew a small safety pin on the back.
Be sure you sew it on so it is easily opened and closed!

I believe these patterns came out of one of Sandra Lounsbury Foose's books.
If you haven't purchased any of her books,
YOU ARE MISSING OUT!!
:0)
I have all of them except one, which is on quilting.
I plan to buy it, and use it for paper quilting,
just haven't done it yet.

Cheryl makes the most adorable finger puppets. Her shop is on etsy:

verrrrry creative!

...you know, sometimes you just have to have the finger puppet
do all the talking...

You could also make up that bunny pattern above,
by Sandra Lounsbury Foose,
fairly quickly-
only add some sharp (felt) teeth,
and just a dab of red paint.....
Aaggghhh!
It's a killer bunny!!!

(check out Monty Python's 'Search for the Holy Grail' movie,
if this does not make sense to you!)

Yes, I think it is that sad time when I have to do other things besides blog.
Have a FUN day!

Passover, Jews for Jesus and free paperdolls

Welcome!

Passover started at sundown last night (Monday).
I love this painting of the Last Supper. So much more realistic to history than the traditional one we usually see.

So why would a goyim like me even think about the Jewish holiday of Passover?
(goyim is basically a term for a non-Jew)

There are many good books and videos and cd's out there that explain it much better than I ever could.

This link is a book titled "Christ in the Passover".
Here it is in Spanish:

Jews for Jesus is a Messianic Jewish organization that I have supported for many, many years. I learned of it through my Dad, Dick Troup.

Side note: A Messianic or sometimes called a Fulfilled Jew is someone who believes that Y'weh (God) has fulfilled His promise and has sent a Messiah (Saviour) - Yeshua (Jesus).
The Jewish religion as a whole believe that they are still waiting for the Messiah to come. They do not acknowledge Yeshua as being the Messiah. Thus, God's promise is 'unfulfilled".

More on Jews for Jesus and me:
After I had sent a note with my married name, the founder, Moishe Rosen, sent me a letter asking if I was related to another Kloberdans.
I am! He is my husband's uncle. Turns out Moishe grew up in the same neighborhood as my uncles, and Moishe was best friends with one of them!
Cool!
My uncle is a good Catholic, and of course the Rosens were Jewish. That didn't stop them from becoming friends. They just adapted, and talked about each other's religion and beliefs and practices. Uncle would wait outside the temple for Moishe (or Marty!) to come out after attending Jewish classes. Moishe would wait outside the Catholic church for Uncle to come out after confession!
Here is a painting of Jesus with children from all different cultures. I like the reminder to us that Jesus did not come just to the Jewish nation, but He gave all of us the chance to learn about God's love for us and the opportunity to spend eternity with Him. John 3:16

I have collected a few paintings and drawings from different cultures that interpret the image of Christ from their cultural standpoint.
This is one of my favorites:

I really hate pictures of Jesus Christ that show Him as a blonde-headed and blue-eyed man. While there are some blonde and blue eyed Jews....
Hello.....
Jesus was Jewish! I am much more inclined to believe that He had a dark, Mediterranean kind of skin color, black hair and dark brown eyes. Perhaps He even wore His hair in a long braid down the back!
I suppose the point is, we don't know exactly what He looked like for a reason. Check out the Ten Commandments!
movie still of Charleton Heston

Korean painting of Jesus saving Peter from drowning due to his lack of belief.
Here is an African interpretation of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ:

So, check out the book of Exodus from the Bible, and read all about the Passover and why it is important for the Jewish people to remember the saving of the Hebrews from Egyptian slavery.

You can find more vintage song sheets at the web site I have listed on the right side of my blog page.

Now, for Something Completely Different:

Let's have another Easter themed paper doll.
I know you want to have these ready to cut out or to play with by Easter Sunday!

adorable Joan Walsh Anglund paper doll with an Easter hat, basket and lily

This next one I picked because it reminded me of the darling coats that children used to wear to church. I have a photo of my sister and me in coats and with little white gloves.

Make a note of this page,
as I will be posting more clothes for these paperdolls in the future.

Well, that is enough for today!
We are in a 'countdown' for Easter.
(Are  you printing out all the coloring pages I have blogged?)
