Sung Tan Chuk Ha

Seoul, South Korea

I have had a little fun this morning checking out pictures of Christmas
and Santa Claus from around the world.
I found a very nice picture stream at

Here is another fun picture from Seoul, South Korea

yep, those are Santa scuba diver outfits!

Evidently some people cannot celebrate Christmas
without getting extremely cold and/or wet!

(I do not count myself in their group! Give me a nice warm fire....)

These popsicles are in the frozen Oranke Lake, Berlin, Germany.
They belong to an ice swim club "Seehunde Berlin".

and yes....that looks like a Mrs. Claus bikini to me!

Another waterlogged Santa:

of God's gift to us - Jesus Christ.

A wonderful painting by one of my absolute faves -
Scott Gustafson.

Why not try your hand at drawing Santa Claus?

Thanks to Dover Publications for sharing!

I'm sure you all know that 'Santa Claus' is called many different names
throughout the world.

In many Eastern European countries,
he is called "Grandfather Frost"
and is accompanied by the "Snow Maiden".

I have enjoyed this bit of international Santa Claus
and I have much more to share, later!

Some Holiday Paperdoll Joy

Chuc Mung Giang Sinh
Chuc Mung Tan Nien

(Merry Christmas and Happy New Year in Vietnamese)

Today is cold, with the snow leftover from a few days ago.
Not much melting when it only gets to 21'F!
Tanner has been keeping warm curled up on the couch,
with his nose tucked in under his paws.
He has a big nose.
Good thing he has big paws!

Here are some wonderful Joan Walsh Anglund activity pages with paperdolls -

I had a friend in High School who drew little characters very similar to JWAnglund.
Whenever I see JWAnglund's, I think of her.
Nice memory.

Next is a wonderfully drawn Russian Santa Claus -

To finish today, here is a colored Santa from one of Dover's
many books for coloring, stained glass look, velvet look,
and more!

and one from Poland for you to color!

Have a fun day.
Don't forget to smile at someone who you normally wouldn't,
like the mailman, or the sweeper, or the newstand guy....

It's a Holly Jolly Santa!

Aapko Christh Janam Din ki badhai

(Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year in Hindi)

vintage clip

Today I want to have a little fun with the upcoming holidays,
and Santa Claus!

Today is my last day to get everything ready
and packed and in my van because
TOMORROW
starts my 2-day Craft Fair.
Yeah, you're probably tired of hearing about it, so let's get into some
Father Christmas
or
Grandfather Frost
or
Saint Nicholas
or
Santa Claus
or
There are many names that across the world are
attributed to the same basic character.
After this weekend I hope to get into some of the different
Santa Claus legends and stories from all over the world.
Not today!

This free clip art is SUPER to cut out!
Be careful with the really thin outline lines,
but he will look great when you mat him on a piece of red paper, won't he?

Take just a little bit more time, and you can put some silver paper
behind his belt buckle.  Add a little flesh-toned paper behind his face,
but be sure and leave the eyebrows alone.

A fun little puzzle to do on your lunch break, or to tuck into your kid's lunchbox:

Hi Mom and Dad in Santa Paula!

Here is a vintage paper puppet craft:

Trace the outlines, and have your kids color Santa in their favorite colors.

This picture is copyrighted I believe. Check on their website.

The Vintage Workshop has this great sign-up where you get one FREE image from their HUGE library of vintage images, per month.
I have enjoyed many of their free images.
They also carry way-cool items that you can use to make things with the images.
A few are -iron-on computer paper, fabric computer paper,
and tons of images, in really good groupings
or singles!
